With great enthusiasm, Ysis has taken her love for the Lord and shared it throughout North, Central and South America, Mexico, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Japan and Africa. Ysis has made many recordings in Spanish and English, and has taken her message in song over 250,000 miles in recent years.

Born in Cuba to missionary parents, Elder and Mrs Ramiro Alonso, she grew up in Costa Rica, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Ysis received musical training at a very early age, first in piano at the Santa Clara Conservatory of Music and then in voice. After returning to Cuba during her college days she toured with various groups from the music department. Six years after Castro took power in Cuba, Ysis immigrated to the United States under difficult and miraculous circumstances. The faith-lifting experiences of her life have produced a deep expression of trust in God that fills her music.

After moving to Texas with her husband, Ysis continued taking voice lessons under the direction of various music department chairs at Southwestern Adventist University and the University of Texas at Arlington. In recent years Paul Tucker, Doctor of Musical Arts, has been her voice coach.

Ysis has completed 13 albums in Spanish and 6 in English.

She has participated in satellite events that have been aired via Christian TV stations 3ABN and Esperanza TV. In addition to these events, she has been featured on “Purely Music”, a Christian Television program seen on the 20TV channel KSBN Safe TV, Arkansas.

Currently she works for the Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists as Administrative Assistant but spends most of her weekends on the road. She and her husband, Angelo, live in the small community of Keene. They have two married children and two precious grandchildren that bring joy to their lives. For fun, Ysis enjoys her aerobics, and likes to read, walk, and most of all, interact with people.

Ysis says: God and His Son are the love of my life and I share that love through music. The voice is a God-given instrument to be used to praise and glorify His name. What a privilege to be one of His instruments. The Lord’s blessing has enriched my musical journey and my life a hundred-fold, buy His grace, I wish to bless others!

“Ysis is an enchanting singer!” says Hugh Martin, former accompanist for Judy Garland and writer of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” “(Her voice has a ) lovely, caressing quality, perfect intonation, phrasing as natural as conversation, and always subtle and understated.” Now you can enjoy Ysis’ warm soprano voice conveying the love of God in her recorded CDs.
